Project 365 pictures – January recap

When I began my project 365, I immediately let myself down by having already missed the first couple of days of the year. I was supposed to take a picture every day and post the picture on THAT DAY and NO OTHER, or the project 365 gods would know and strike me down. No cheating and posting pictures from another day, either. Well, I’m still here, so I guess it’s okay.

It all kinda went to hell anyway because I’ve been taking about 18,000 pictures every day for the last couple of weeks, 17,995 of which I’ve wanted to share, so picking “the” picture has been a crapshoot. Not that there has to be a single picture, the whole idea is just to get me taking more and better pictures — but if I wanted to make a little collage at the end of each month I had to choose a single picture. So I chose the first picture in each post that I tagged as the day’s project 365 post — which is also completely arbitrary because I sometimes post upwards of 18,000 posts of new pictures every day, too.

So anyway, I’m an imposter.

Thank you everyone who’s followed along with this blog in the last month, liked posts, and given me feedback! I truly appreciate all of it and have seen so much inspiring work in your blogs along the way.

  1. Doing a post a day takes a lot of time. I’m working on the one for today, and it’s going to be close to get it in on time. I’m not so bothered when I snapped the pictures because often the pictures are just a vehicle to lend impact to the words.

    • Well, kudos to you for taking the time and effort to tell the stories behind the pictures too. I have it relatively easy because my story– lately — is typically no more than “Well, I walked out to the front yard, and there was this pretty, small thing, so I took these macro shots.”

  2. I just posted day 174….this has made me very disciplined…I made this structured so it wouldn’t be so overwhelming. How would I be able to just pick some random picture that I took that day…..
My formula was this…I started with a DandelioN…next picture needs to start with the last letter from the previous day. This has kept me on target and focused….
Good luck and don’t give UP.
I haven’t missed any days yet…I have posted a couple a day late….but the picture was taken on the correct day. Don’t stress and have FUN!
    I’m enjoying your pictures….

    • Thanks so much, Gail! I’m glad you’re liking them so far. And I like the system you’ve chosen for yourself and obviously it must be going well for you — it’s got you halfway through the year. For my part, I’m just going to try to put pictures up that were actually taken on the appropriate day, but not beat myself up for too long if I miss or flub a day.

  3. I know what you mean – I try to post my photo every day just so I don’t have to do like 7 posts in a day just to catch up… I love your photos. and I love that you post several pictures in each post. Keep it up. and oh – the recap is a gorgeous selection of photos. 🙂

    • Thank you, Inga! I have such a hard time picking just one; glad you’re enjoying the bigger selections. 🙂 Having a backlog of pictures and/or posts you want to share is a little annoying, too, so it’s definitely ideal to keep up each day.
