February 9th pictures — Down by the river, pt. 2

Another day, another river trek. 41°F although feels like 33°F.

Bud of the thorniest plant in existence. I don't know the actual name of the plant so I'll call it Death Plant. Scientific name Slowandpainful deathii.

Walked around the bend of the river only to discover...another bend. Do wonders never cease?

Samaras of what I'm pretty sure is the eminently crappy box elder.

A small pool in the river, possibly enchanted. Who knows, the Excalibur of North America could be in there somewhere.
