Renaissance Festival

Yesterday I went to the Renaissance Festival with my family. I saw snakes, outlandish cleavage, an untold number of turkey legs, glassware, elephants, bad fantasy art, good fantasy art, pretty jewelry, horses, and many other things. I also ate many things, including a Scotch egg, which I got for free as we stayed til festival’s end, when the vendors started giving away the food they had left over. It was absurdly exciting.

  1. Wonderful pictorial encapsulation of the festival atmosphere! If you unfolded that Scotch egg some more and incorporated a brownish circular background you would have one hell of a homemade (and possibly delicious) owl. 🙂

    • I think most if not all of them are permanent, yes — as far as I know, the space where it’s held isn’t used for much of anything else, and they’ve really inhabited it nicely. That’s why it was such a big deal a couple years back when they thought the land might be sold. It’s hard to imagine the event taking place anywhere else (even if they were able to move the buildings).

  2. This seems to be a great experience, it looks almost like beeing in England in those good old days. And you captured the mood well – even good weather, beautiful flowers – and beautiful birds in the sky!
